After a lockdown-induced pause, we are really excited to share the new call out for Women Leaders South West (WLSW). Diverse City is one of eight arts organisations involved in the training programme. The project aims at empowering women of all backgrounds to be leaders in the arts. WLSW is looking for 16 women associates with a unique perspective on arts leadership.
Could this be for me?
If you have creative ideas that you want to see happen for yourself or your community, this leadership training programme may be for you. You may be employed or unemployed to take up the opportunity (but you can’t be in education) and you may need a flexible working agreement with your employer to take part. We will offer you a bursary and also support you on your leadership journey.
When does the leadership programme happen?
Between January 2021 and June 2022. We will be as flexible to fit around your commitments. We’ll work design a programme as well as a timeline that works best for you and your host partner.
Spring 2021 – Residency at Dartington Hall in Devon
January 2021 – June 2022 Host Organisation Programme (equivalent of 10 months’ training, at any time in this 18-month period) + Flexible learning delivered by Southampton Business School
January 2022 Evaluation residency (2 days)
Spring 2022 International Symposium (2 days)
What does the programme offer?
A relationship with one of the partner arts organisations – to involve you in workplace experiences
Mentoring – a learning exchange with women associates and hosts
A bursary of £12,000 to cover ten months of training, paid in ten monthly instalments (or in line with your bespoke programme)
Further support to meet your individual needs across the whole programme e.g. childcare, BSL interpretation, support worker, travel costs
Online and face-to-face training and career development opportunities with Southampton Business School
Connection with women from across the world through the WOW Foundation and Jude Kelly who started the organisation

The Women Leaders South West project is run by a group of 8 arts organisations as well as 1 business school. The project also involves the WOW Foundation. WOW is a global movement to celebrate women and girls and takes a frank look at the obstacles they face. An Arts Council England Transforming Leadership grant funds the project.
