Female led theatre work has been my focus as a Producer for the past few years. I am passionate about women occupying space in theatre, both on and backstage and when it is being created. Claire Hodgson asked me to join team Mid Life in October 2023. As Lucy Richardson and I began to put a largely female team together, I started to imagine what a ‘Mid Life Tour’ could look like. The tour now comes to an end and some 18 months later it’s time to reflect and celebrate. Mid Life is a special show, about loss, grief, childhood and expectations, oh and the menopause! It has resonated with audiences young and old.

This powerful production has had audiences in tears and a moment later, waves of infectious and heartwarming laughter have filled the room, up and down the country. Seeing five Midlife women on stage is unique (it should not be). And what a powerful five they are Claire, Jacqui, Spicer, Judith and Ali you have been professional, patient and adaptable at every moment. I admire your stamina, enthusiasm for telling stories and your willingness to trust.

Making accessible work has been a challenging joy! And something I will advocate for in all my work from now on. Why aren’t all performances of all productions BSL interpreted, Captioned and Audio Described? It can be done!
