Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists are the face of Diverse City’s Crowdfunder this year. We are aiming to raise £4,000 to create unique opportunities for young people in Dorset to experience Theatre and Circus.

Diverse City believes the performing arts should be for everyone. Therefore everyone should have an equal chance to perform and develop their skills.
But…
Many young people face barriers that mean they never get the chance to explore their talents. Barriers like money, access support and transport are most common. As if that wasn’t enough, Dorset Youth Researchers 2018 report found that:
- 41% of young people in Dorset struggle to make friends
- 55% of young people in Dorset think that a lack of confidence may stop them from achieving their career goals
So what are we doing about it?
Extraordinary Bodies Young Artists actively challenges these barriers.
The youth company make bold, radical performance in Dorset and they present fearless shows that rebel against the norm. EBYA regularly work with amazing theatre directors, actors and circus performers.
Diverse City wants to invite more young people in Dorset to join in and above all, to be a part of something unique and exciting.
What is our Crowdfunder raising money for?
We want to offer 40 Dorset young people FREE taster sessions in Theatre and Circus. We will be working with award-winning Dorset theatre maker Niki McCretton, plus internationally renowned professional company Acrojou. The workshops will offer a thrilling experience, getting young people out of their comfort zone and will bring them together with loads of other like-minded people.
What will the money fund?
Our target is to raise £4,000.
Each Theatre and Circus workshop will run for one day (10:00am – 4:00pm) and every place costs £95 per person. 20 people will attend each day. To run the workshops for 2 days, this will cost £3,800. The final £200 will cover overheads, administration and marketing costs.
By reaching our target of £4,000, this will give 40 young people the chance to come to a one-day Theatre & Circus workshop at Lighthouse Poole.
