Diverse City is available to advise and collaborate on your productions – from inclusive practice, representative casting, diversity friendly rehearsals and accessible marketing, we’re on hand to offer your production what it needs.
Supporting Productions – old
Producing work that is representative and inclusive isn’t just the right thing to do, it’s also an essential part of applying for funding. Ensuring that your company is holding up the highest standards for inclusion can feel daunting, but it’s absolutely possible! We can help you by offering your team training, coming on board to collaborate directly in the room, or offering your ‘offstage’ team advice and support remotely.
You can see for yourself what is possible in our own diverse company Extraordinary Bodies (held in partnership with Cirque Bijou), which has been creating bold, radical, joyous work for the last decade. To see what we’ve achieved so far with the companies we’ve worked with, have a look at our portfolio below!
“Always thought provoking and considered, never judgemental. Diverse City’s method of getting under the skin of an organisation has increased diversity awareness throughout our venue. Everyone can contribute at all levels and in many, many ways, making diversity a priority in everything we do.” – Theatre Royal Plymouth.

Based on the real life experiences of Claire Hodgson, Karen Spicer and Jacqui Beckford, this joyful, potent show took on the taboos surrounding menopause. Weaving together BSL, audio description, original music, dance, and theatre, Mid Life told an honest story of different experiences of the same life event to sell out audiences in Bristol and London. Mid Life is currently available for touring.
Created with support from Ferment at Bristol Old Vic.
Human is about the small moments that shape us. This new show from Extraordinary Bodies is a poetic record of our time, based on the real life stories of our company and performers, told through circus, music and film.
Intimate, funny and celebratory, Human looks into the heart of birth, love and change.
The Elephant Man by Lee Lyford
We co-produced director Lee Lyford’s take on The Elephant Man with Bristol Old Vic and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Diverse City’s Joint Artistic Director, Jamie Beddard, played the main character of Joseph Merrick and the company supported learning around improved access for artists and audiences.
